Everything
You Wanted To Know But Were
Afraid to Ask About Seaview Baptist
Seaview Baptist Church has been demonstrating
God's love in practical ways for the past 142 years! Through all those
years (even the devastating fire of 1992 that destroyed our education
wing) we've been an effective witness for Jesus Christ. We are a medium
size church with 168 members and an average Sunday morning attendance
of 120 people. We are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches
USA.
WORSHIP
- During worship we provide child care for children ages 2-5 and a junior
church experience for children ages 5-11.. Furthermore, "babyland,"
our sound proof room at the rear of the sanctuary is available for parents
who'd like to sit with their babies and still be able to see and hear
the service. "Sound mate" wireless receivers and earphones
are available to assist those who have difficulty hearing. Every service
is tape recorded so that audio tapes of the morning service can be sent
at no charge to shut-ins and others who may want them. Our weekly radio
program "Seaview on the Air" is heard on Saturdays at 9 a.m.
on WIBG 1020 AM by many of the residents of Atlantic and Cape May counties.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
- We have Sunday school classes at 9:30 a.m. for all ages. Our junior
and senior high youth have classes and retreats to inform their faith
as well weekly opportunities to meet and strengthen friendships. Our
young adults plan social gatherings throughout the year such as potluck
dinners, game nights, bowling parties etc. to help people get to know
others in an informal setting. We have three adult classes on Sunday
mornings which both raise our awareness and nurture our understanding
of God's Word so that we may then draw strength from it for daily living.
Our pastor leads courses of study and discussion for adults on Sunday
nights as well as Mondays at 1:00 p.m. We sponsor Bible Study classes
for Single Christian Adults twice a month and a thirteen week “Divorce
Care” series several times a year for people experiencing separation
or divorce.
DURING THE WEEK
- Every day more than 70 adults and children make use of our air conditioned,
handicapped accessible (elevator, ramps and wide aisles and halls) facility.
Caring, Inc.'s Adult Day Care program and the Linwood Nursery School
co-op provide resources vital to the community by giving meaning to
the lives of older citizens and a solid foundation for learning to the
children preparing for school. Each of these programs has been a part
of Seaview's outreach for more than 25 years.
MISSIONS
- Local, national and international missions are at the heart of Seaview's
identity. Last year we gave away over $48,000 to strengthen the witness
of Christ through such mission agencies as: the Atlantic City Rescue
Mission, Contact - Atlantic (a crisis hotline phone counseling ministry),
Habitat for Humanity, race track ministries, Camp Lebanon for summer
youth programs, the Baptist Home of South Jersey, three sister churches
(a Haitian ministry in Trenton,NJ, Thailand and Japan) the Kodiak Baptist
Mission in Alaska, Keams Canyon and Bacone College (A College for Native
Americans where we sent a volunteer team of 15 persons in 2003), Eastern
University and Seminary as well as many other national and international
ministries.
